BERLIN, Ohio. - Amish Country United hosted Delaware Rising Football Club in match week two of the Northern Ohio Soccer League at Hiland High School on Saturday afternoon, May 21. The Amish were 3-2 winners over Delaware Rising as they overcame a 2-0 deficit at halftime to earn their first win of the young NOSL season.
Delaware Rising came out as the aggressor early, pressing up the field to keep most of the play in their offensive end. Midway through the half, the visitors scored the opener as Landon Kuhn found himself in some space in front of goal and calmly finished. Just a few minutes later, Delaware doubled their lead as Mason Morris scored on a breakaway. Leading 2-0 at the break, it seemed Amish Country United would need a miracle to get a positive result.
Amish Country United turned the tables in the second half, as they pressured Rising relentlessly. After the Amish earned numerous corner kicks and free kicks early in the period, Collin Lowe's free kick found the head of Josh Ragon, who flicked the ball into the goal to make it 2-1.
With the momentum now on their side, Amish Country drew level through Derek Miller, who finished from close range beat Delaware Rising goalkeeper Collin Sexton. Declan Howell had the assist on the goal.
The hosts completed the comeback in the late stages of the game as Kaden Schrock headed in the game winning goal off of a Brayden Gray cross from the right wing.
Amish Country United (1-0-1) will be in action again next Saturday, May 28 as they travel to The City of Ohio SC (1-0-1) for a 6:00 p.m. game at St. Ignatius High School.
